“Systems and Business Analyst Experience”

Over 20 years of implementing, maintaining and enhancing computer systems. Over the last two decades I have been involved with HRIS, Payroll, Time and Attendance, General Ledger, Job Costing, Engineering, EDI, Warehouse Management, Shop Floor Production, Inventory, Returned Merchandise, PLM, CRM (Salesforce), Email Responder, Web Front-end and Back-end Systems. I have been involved in these systems in a variety roles. Most of those roles involved implementing and subsequently enhancing the different systems mentioned.

An overal majority of my experience is in the HRIS area. I have implemented PeopleSoft, SAP and home grown HR and Payroll systems. Within the HRIS area I have worked with Benefits, Pensions, Payroll, Time and Attendance tracking, Budgeting, and Taleo Experience Management. Within those areas I have done both technical and functional work so I am extremely familiar with the overall end-to-end processing. I have done everything from configuring the payroll system to creating the test plans and documentation before going live. Some of my post go-live tasks have been to act as a troubleshooter or liaison for the technical team to solve problems. With my programming, database and SQL skills I have been able to use technical tools to solve problems faster than those employees with only functional skills.

Giving and Taking in Education

As previously mentioned, I feel education is an extremely important aspect in each of our lives. In large part I feel that educating others is an important step in helping people achieve their goals.

However, my motivation is not entirely benevolent as I tend to learn just as much from my students as they may have learned from me. In interacting with students I get to see technology and business from different vantage points. I also get to experience real world case case studies as we discuss workplace challenges.

HRM

I realize that I am going to be painting with a broad brush here but it wasn't that long ago that Human Resource professionals lives were less complicated.  Maybe not easier but less complicated.  With the advent of modern Human Capital Management systems, HR professionals have been tasked with ever increasing duties.  Today the HR person must Human Resource Management Human Resource Management[/caption] be involved at some level with employee safety and health, compensation, recruitment and selection, job planning, employee retainment, etc.. They must stay abreast of an ever growing list of state, federal and local regulations.  The computer systems have made that job easier and at the same time more difficult.  Because of the sophistication of the systems, HR employees must now be responsible for a wider variety of duties.  The format of the data may stay the same in the system but the context of the data and how it is used is an ever changing dynamic that we will investigate much further in future post. Today's human capital management systems typically touch upon several areas:
